About Printer Co: An Independent Home Printer Guide

Printer Co is an independent guide to home printers, ink and toner. We help households choose a printer that suits how they actually print, understand what printing really costs, and waste less ink, paper and money along the way.

Not affiliated with any printer brand

Printer Co is not a printer manufacturer, an ink seller, a retailer or a support line. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by HP, Canon, Epson, Brother or any other printer or ink company. Brand and product names appear on this site only to describe products, and we do not use brand logos. We do not offer phone support, and anyone claiming on the phone to be a Printer Co support agent is not us.

What we cover

  • Choosing a home printer: inkjet or laser, ink tank or cartridge, photo printing, phone printing and the software you need. Start with best printer for home use.
  • Ink and toner: why ink is expensive, third-party ink, ink subscriptions and keeping print heads healthy. Start with ink tank vs cartridge printer.
  • Costs and eco printing: cost per page, saving ink and paper, and recycling cartridges and old printers. Start with printer cost per page.

We do not publish model-by-model reviews or price lists. Models and prices change too quickly, and we would rather teach a method you can apply to any printer on any day.

Guides in two languages

Most guides are in English, and a growing number are in Latin American Spanish, written for readers in Mexico, Colombia, Argentina and the rest of the region rather than translated word for word. Spanish guides use the same sources as the English versions and link to each other. Examples: cómo escanear documentos en casa and cuánto consume una impresora.

Newer topics

Besides choosing a printer and saving ink, we now cover everyday tasks around a home printer: scanning documents, keeping a Wi-Fi printer secure, printer electricity use and printing from a Chromebook. We still do not cover repairs of individual faults in depth; our maintenance guides stick to what the makers’ own manuals describe.

How we research

Our guides draw on primary and official sources: printer makers’ own documentation, international standards for page yield (such as ISO/IEC 24711), operating system documentation from Apple and Microsoft, and consumer-protection guidance such as the US Federal Trade Commission’s warranty guide. Sources are listed at the end of each guide.

Our rules:

  • No invented numbers. We do not quote prices or specifications from memory. When a price appears, it carries the date we saw it and a link to where we saw it.
  • Illustrations are labelled. Worked examples with round numbers are marked as illustrations, not real prices.
  • Updated dates are real. The date on a guide shows when we last reviewed it.

The history of this site

An earlier version of printer.com.co published printer setup and error-code pages. In October 2026 we rebuilt the site around home printers and ink. Useful older material, such as printing from an iPhone and updating printer drivers, was rewritten and kept at, or redirected from, its old address. Pages that were thin, inaccurate or off-topic were retired and now redirect to the closest current guide.

Contact and corrections

If you spot a mistake or something out of date, please tell us through the contact page. We read every message and correct errors. We cannot fix individual printers, but we are happy to hear which questions you would like answered next.
